This stool was made using reclaimed pieces of plumbing hardware. The base is a steel operating wheel from a valve in the original Winnipeg Water Treatment facility. Holes were drilled and tapped into the sides of the wheel handles to accommodate six locking swivel castors. The riser stem is a brass two inch Backflow Prevention Device, attached to the operating wheel with a two inch steel union nut. The seat is a modern replica of a tractor seat, but the backrest and seat adjustment screw were fabricated from reclaimed steel pipe and fittings. This functional (and quite comfortable) piece of unique furniture is in use at UA Local 254/PITC training centre in the backflow testing department.
